Management Biographies
Rick Luchak – CEO
Rick has been in the oil and gas service industry his whole career. Rick started his career working in a variety of technical and management positions at Baker Oil Tools. In 1986 he co-founded ESS-ELL Tool Co. Ltd. ESS-ELL grew to become the largest independent supplier of subsurface flow control tools in Canada. In 1997, he co-founded Sentry Oil Tools LLC in Victoria, Texas. Sentry grew to become the largest independent supplier of subsurface flow control tools in the United States. In 2003, ESS-ELL and Sentry were sold to IPS. Rick continued to work for IPS as a Senior Vice-President for the Products Group. This business unit was comprised of the surface processing equipment fabrication business and the subsurface completion products business.
Ron Porter – President
Ron has a wide background in the resource industry. Prior to forming Paintearth Energy Services Ron was Senior VP for Integrated Production Services, a division of Complete Production Services Inc. Ron worked several years as a management consultant. He worked for Enerflex Systems Ltd., a Canadian supplier to the natural gas industry, for 9 years where he progressed to VP, Operations for the Compression and Power Division. Prior to that Ron managed a rubber plant for several years and held a variety of leadership roles in the mining industry for 18 years. Ron is a Professional Engineer, having graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a B.Eng.
Michael Cook - CFO
Michael has several years experience in the private equity, corporate finance and general corporate fields. His expertise in all aspects of corporate finance was developed over several years working in various capacities including sales and marketing, corporate management and as an independent financial consultant. He has worked on deal structuring and execution as well as corporate management over a broad spectrum of industries, including oilfield service, industrial manufacturing and real estate development.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree as well as Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator designations.
Scott Masich – VP Surface Products
Scott Masich joins Paintearth Energy Services Inc. as VP Surface Products in January 2009. He is responsible for Surface Products Manufacturing and Leasing divisions. He brings with him considerable background and experience in manufacturing products for the oil and gas industry. He provides directions to clients in lean manufacturing, process improvement and strategy development and implementation. His engineering degree along with a Master of Business Administration strengthen his background to support the corporate direction for Paintearth.
Shaun Wold – General Manager, Subsurface Products – Canada
Shaun began his career in the oil and gas supply store business in 1994 in Central Alberta. He worked for several key Canadian industry supply houses, rising to Purchasing Manager. In 2000 he started with Paintearth’s predecessor as Purchasing Manager at our Surface Products plant at Halkirk, Alberta. In 2004 he was promoted to Chief Estimator, a position he held until late 2007 when he was promoted to the General Manager, Subsurface Products, Canada. Shaun is married with a young family and lives near Calgary.
